I have tried to download the new El Capitan onto my 2012 MacBook Air, but I keep getting and Alert that says 'This update requires OS X 10.11.' 10.11.x to 10.12.x. That’s when we came up with a workaround to download OS X El Capitan via direct download instead of from the Mac App Store.
